DOESN’T GET ANY BETTER: What a September afternoon. A cobalt blue Alabama sky, temperatures in the 69-74 degree range, and hardly any humidity. Temperatures will drop quickly once the sun sets this evening, and we should be in the 45-54 degree range early tomorrow.

We warm up just a bit in coming days, with a high around 80 tomorrow, followed by low to mid 80s Friday. Dry air means no rain.

WEEKEND FORECAST: A cold front will move through in dry fashion Saturday night, bringing in a fresh supply of cool, dry air for Sunday and early next week. We expect a good supply of sunshine both Saturday and Sunday; we will see a high in the 81-85 degree range Saturday, but the high will drop back into the 70s Sunday.

Looks like a good chance we will see lows in the 40s again early next week on Monday and Tuesday morning.

We should note fall “officially” begins Saturday at 9:49 a.m. CDT…

FOOTBALL WEATHER: No weather issues for Alabama or Auburn this weekend; the sky should be mostly clear for Alabama’s home game against Florida Atlantic (kickoff 4:00 p.m. CDT) with a kickoff temperature near 82 degrees, falling into the 70s during the second half. Auburn will host LSU at 6:00 p.m…. the sky will be fair with temperatures falling through the 70s.

GULF COAST WEATHER: Doesn’t get much better. For the coast from Panama City to Gulf Shores we expect sunny days and fair nights through the weekend, with highs generally in the low to mid 80s.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
