Warm Weather Here To Stay

FINALLY FEELS LIKE MAY: Temperatures across Alabama are mostly in the 79-83 degree range at mid-afternoon with blus sky and sunshine. Nothing on radar around these parts.

HELLO SUMMER HEAT: Wow…. about 106 degrees at Sioux City, IA this afternoon. Triple digit heat is also seen over parts of Nebraska and Minnesota… a reminder those long, hot, steamy summer days are almost here. Not to worry; we won’t see that kind of heat around here anytime soon.

Tomorrow will be another warm, dry day with ample sunshine and a high in the mid 80s.

THURSDAY/FRIDAY: An upper low now lifting out of Mexico will bring the risk of a few scattered showers to the northern half of Alabama on these two days. Nothing really widespread or heavy, and the best chance of a shower will come during the afternoon and evening hours. Otherwise, the daytime hours will feature a mix of sun and clouds with a high in the low to mid 80s.

WARMEST WEEKEND SO FAR THIS YEAR: The GFS is printing a high of 85 Saturday, and 88 Sunday for Birmingham, making it the warmest weather so far this year. An upper ridge should mean rain-free weather both days with a partly to mostly sunny sky.

Severe storms could great out over the Great Plains this weekend, but they won’t impact our state.

NEXT WEEK: The 12Z GFS keeps Alabama dry Monday, but a shower could creep into the northern part of the state late Tuesday or Tuesday night with a weakening cold front. Bottom line is that we don’t see any really high impact events for our state for the next 10-15 days thanks to upper ridging. This also means the warm weather is here to stay.
