Wet Weather Remains in the Forecast

| July 20, 2013 @ 5:00 pm

Scattered showers and storms are lighting up the radar again today. If you are not seeing rain now, odds are you will over the next 72 hours. The latest QPF outlook shows that most of Alabama could see close to an inch of rain between now and Tuesday afternoon with some areas receiving a little more, some areas a little less.

Southerly flow out of the Gulf of Mexico keeps a moisture plume entrenched across Alabama. That means ample fuel for these pesky afternoon showers and thunderstorms that develop each day across the state. Rainfall in these storms can add up quickly and may even produce isolated flash flooding. Along with the heavy rain, expect tremendous lightning output with this summertime convection.
