Morning Radar Check

| July 31, 2013 @ 8:14 am

The weather will be quite unsettled today. We are already seeing showers and thunderstorms affecting many areas. A quick look at the radar this morning shows strong storms east of Interstate 65 from the Birmingham Metro to the Georgia state line.

Currently the more intense activity is impacting portions of eastern Jefferson County near Trussville and Leeds, as well as Calhoun and Talladega Counties affecting Anniston/Oxford and Interstate 20. These storms are dropping off to the southeast and will be impacting locations across east-central Alabama.

No storms are severe and we are not expecting severe weather today. However, there is a threat for flash flooding as this activity is producing tremendous amounts of rainfall. A flash flood warning has already been issued for Cullman County this morning and there could be several more warnings issued through out the day.

Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected today. This morning’s convection it the result of a warm front lifting north across the state. Later today and into tonight, a cold front moving in from the northwest will be providing the uplift needed for showers and storms.
