A Few Storms this Evening

Depending where you were in the state today, there was quite a difference in the weather. Today, most of the wet weather was confined to areas to the northwest of Interstate 59. Much of that activity has dissipated throughout the afternoon with the exception of northwestern Tuscaloosa and southeastern Fayette counties.

There are some showers and storms to the south of Birmingham. We are watching areas along the outflow boundaries highlighted in the image. These boundaries can provide enough uplift to get additional showers and storms to develop this evening. There is actually a boundary heading south and one heading north and when these two meet, there certainly could be some rapid storm development.

Showers and storms will last a few more hours, but should continue to fade away once the sun sets. Expect a repeat of today’s weather heading into your Sunday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms should develop by late morning and last through the afternoon.
