Heavy Rain in West Alabama

| October 6, 2013 @ 8:20 am

Showers and thunderstorms have developed in western portions of the state out ahead of the cold front in central Mississippi. These storms are producing very heavy rainfall and an areal flood advisory has been issued for Lamar County until 11 AM.

Most areas in central Alabama remain rain free, but there are storms affecting Lamar, Marion, Fayette, and Walker Counties. None of these storms are severe and storms are not expected to be severe today. Most areas will see heavy rain and gusty winds today.

Throughout the day, showers will increase in coverage as a strong cold front will continue to move east today and this front will be crossing through the state and should be out of here by tomorrow morning. Behind the front, much cooler and drier weather will takeover for the new work week.
