Today will feature a good supply of sunshine through high clouds, with a high in the mid 60s.

MID-WEEK: Dry weather continues tomorrow with sunshine through scattered clouds; the high will be in the 65 to 68 degree range. We stay rain-free during the day Wednesday, but a cold front will bring a chance of showers to Alabama late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.

Looks like the main window for showers will come from about midnight Wednesday night through 6:00 a.m. Thursday, and rain amounts will be very light due to limited moisture. There is no surface based instability, so no severe weather, and probably no thunder. Rain amounts will be under 1/4 inch for most places; a very benign weather event for November. Keep in mind we are now in our fall tornado season.

Colder air blows into the state in the wake of the cold front Thursday; the high will be around 60 degrees, and some communities around here could see a light freeze at daybreak Friday with a low between 30 and 35 degrees.

Friday will be cool and dry with a sunny sky and a high in the low 60s.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: Many big outdoor events are going on Saturday, including college football, and the weather could not be better. It will be a day filled with sunshine; we begin the day Saturday around 40 degrees, followed by a high in the mid 60s. Sunday will be sunny as well with a high in the upper 60s.

NEXT WEEK: We stay rain-free early next week; some hint our next chance of showers will come around Wednesday November 13, followed by a cold air shot late in the week. See the Weather Xtreme video for the maps, graphics, and details.

TROPICS: A few weak waves are across the Atlantic basin, but nothing really organized and tropical storm formation is not expected this week. Sea water temperatures along the Central Gulf Coast have cooled into the 60s, so it is unlikely any significant tropical systems will impact us for the rest of the season, which runs through the end of November.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes.
