Use Caution Heading East

| February 12, 2014 @ 5:27 am

Heavy rain is falling along I-20 heading towards Atlanta. Some reports of of sleet and freezing rain being reported towards the Alabama state line. Temps just across the border in Georgia are right at the freezing mark. That cold air is associated with the wedge and cold air damming that is slowly creeping west today.

A significant and likely crippling ice storm is underway for much of Georgia and the Carolinas today. Travel is highly discouraged the farther east you go on I-20. Throughout the day, we will likely see portions of East Alabama impacted by snow and ice accumulations because of the abundance of moisture and cold air moving into the area.
