NICE FRIDAY: As expected, the sky cleared nicely across Alabama during the midday hours thanks to sinking air motion in the atmosphere, and most everyone is enjoying a sunny afternoon with temperatures in the low 60s.

Temperatures

OUR WEEKEND: Tomorrow will be dry and mild; sunshine through high clouds along with a high around 70 degrees. I still think we need to mention some risk of scattered showers Sunday as a weak front moves down from the north, and a short wave moves in from the west. The rain won’t be widespread or heavy, just be aware that you might encounter a little rain at some point during the day Sunday. The high resolution NAM hints the best chance of showers will come from about 4:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Sunday.

We should note the GFS remains mostly dry Sunday. The high will be in the 66 to 70 degree range.

NEXT WEEK: Very mild weather is the story Monday and Tuesday with mid 70s likely; showers are possible Tuesday night into Wednesday ahead of a cold front. At this point it doesn’t look like the rain will be too heavy, and severe weather should not be a problem. Cooler air follows on Thursday and Friday; some of the colder spots might make a run for freezing early Friday morning.

See the Weather Xtreme video for the maps, graphics, and details.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
