THIS AFTERNOON: Another delightful May day in Alabama. Ample sunshine, temperatures mostly in the mid 80s. Dewpoints are mostly in the 50s, and humidity levels are fairly low.

Our weather won’t change much tomorrow and Thursday… lots of sunshine with with afternoon temperatures peaking generally between 85 and 88 degrees.

WEST OF ALABAMA: SPC has a “slight risk” of severe weather defined for much of the nation’s heartland tomorrow and Thursday (from Texas to the Upper Midwest), but the upper trough responsible for that threat will lift north into Canada, and there is no threat of organized severe weather in Alabama at least for the next seven days.

FRIDAY: Moisture levels rise, and the upper ridge breaks down. This should allow showers, and possibly a thunderstorm or two, to move into Alabama Friday afternoon and Friday night. Clouds will thicken during the day Friday with a high in the low 80s.

OUR WEEKEND: Moist air stays in place, and we will maintain some risk of showers and thunderstorms Saturday. Again, no severe weather, and there should be some good breaks in the rain. But just be ready for a few passing showers, and possibly a thunderstorm with a high at or just over 80. The 12Z run of the GFS is drier for Sunday, suggesting only widely scattered showers and a high in the mid 80s.

Some risk of showers will continue Monday, but again the 12Z run of the GFS model brings drier air down into the northern half of Alabama by Tuesday. See the Weather Xtreme video for the maps, graphics, and details.

GULF COAST WEATHER: Sunny, warm weather continues on the Alabama Gulf Coast through Thursday. Highs will be in the upper 70s along the immediate coast, with 80s just a few miles inland.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Friday through Sunday with about 2 to 4 hours of sunshine each day over the weekend from Panama City over to Gulf Shores.
