CLOUDS, BUT LITTLE PRECIPITATION: We expect a slow increase in cloud cover across North/Central Alabama today, but rain will be confined to the far southern part of the state, near the Gulf Coast. Temperatures will climb from near the freezing mark early this morning into the mid 50s this afternoon.

LATE TONIGHT: The rain over far South Alabama will stay well to the south as a surface low moves though the Gulf of Mexico, but a wave will be approaching in the northern branch of the jet stream. This could squeeze out a few snow flurries over North Alabama after midnight, but the models have trended drier, and it will be another no impact event. Best chance of flurries will be from about 3:00 until 8:00 a.m.

Tomorrow will be breezy and colder with gradual clearing; we won’t get past the low 40s, and many places north of Birmingham won’t get out of the 30s. A north wind of 10-18 mph will make it feel colder.

FRIDAY/SATURDAY: Friday morning will be cold; most communities will see a low in the 22-26 degree range, but colder pockets across North Alabama could visit the upper teens. But, we warm nicely with sunshine in full supply; the high Friday afternoon will be in the mid 50s. Then, Saturday looks like a delightful day with ample sunshine and a high in the low 60s.

SUNDAY/MONDAY: Just a small risk of a shower Sunday afternoon with an approaching cold front; it will be a very mild day with a high up in the mid 60s. Global models have trended wetter for Monday as the front passes through… occasional showers look likely Monday with a high in the 50s.

NEXT WEEK: Colder and drier air arrives Tuesday with a high around 50, then the rest of the week looks dry with highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.
