VERY WARM: We are forecasting highs in the 84-88 degree range across Alabama today and tomorrow… it will be the warmest weather so far this year. Morning clouds will give way to a partly sunny sky both days with just a few isolated afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms…. the chance of any one spot seeing rain each day is in the 10-20 percent range.
SUNNY, WARM AFTERNOON: Temperatures are in the 78-83 degree range across Alabama this afternoon with a good supply of sunshine. The sky will stay mostly fair tonight with a low between 58 and 63 degrees.
WARM MARCH DAY: With a mostly sunny sky, we are forecasting a high in the 81-85 degree range this afternoon, making it one of the warmest days so far in 2023. The average high for Birmingham on March 23 is 69. The day tomorrow will also be warm and dry with a high in the low 80s.
THIS AFTERNOON: With a mix of sun and clouds, temperatures are generally in the 77-83 degree range across Alabama, well above average values for early March. We note a few isolated showers over the southern counties of the state; those will dissipate after sunset. Tonight will be mostly fair, and the weather begins to turn noticeably colder with lows in the 40s and 50s by daybreak tomorrow.
ANOTHER WARM DAY: We are forecasting a high in the 77-82 degree range across Alabama this afternoon, well above the average high of 65 (for Birmingham). Expect a mix of sun and clouds with a few widely scattered showers this afternoon over the southern half of the state.
WARM MARCH DAY: Temperatures are hovering around 80 degrees across much of Alabama this afternoon with a partly to mostly sunny sky. Tonight will be mostly fair with a low in the 55-65 degree range.
WARM MARCH DAY: We are forecasting a high in the 78-83 degree range across Alabama today with a partly to mostly sunny sky. An isolated shower or two is possible near the Gulf Coast, but even there most places will be dry. We note the average high for Birmingham on March 6 is 64.
AT MID-AFTERNOON: We have a mix of sun and clouds across Alabama this afternoon with just a few scattered showers on radar… temperatures are in the 75-83 degree range.
COMPLEX FORECAST: The weather will be increasingly active across Alabama through Friday, and the forecast is a bit complex (which is expected in early March in Alabama). Moisture levels are rising across Alabama, but a decent part of the day today will be dry with a high around 80 degrees. The sun could break out at times this afternoon as well.
ANOTHER WARM FEBRUARY AFTERNOON: Temperatures are generally in the 75-83 degree range across North Alabama this afternoon with a mix of sun and clouds. No records so far, but the day isn’t over just yet. The average high for Birmingham on February 23 is 61.
RADAR CHECK: Showers have formed across Alabama early this morning… otherwise the sky is mostly cloudy with temperatures close to 70 degrees at daybreak. We note that is nine degrees warmer than the average high for this date (61) at Birmingham.
Tomorrow will another very warm day with highs exceeding 80 in many areas; the pressure gradient will relax so it won’t be as windy. A few spotty showers are possible, but many places will be dry.
FEBRUARY WARMTH: The average high for Birmingham today is 61; temperatures will be around 20 degrees above that level today and tomorrow as a strong upper ridge over the Gulf of Mexico and the Southeast U.S. strengthens. The high today and tomorrow will be close to 80 degrees for most communities.
SEVERE WEATHER THREAT TOMORROW: A dynamic weather system will bring the chance of strong to severe thunderstorms to Alabama tomorrow afternoon and evening. SPC maintains an “enhanced risk” (level 3/5) for much of Central and Southwest Alabama, for areas south of a line from Tuscaloosa to Birmingham to Opelika. A “sight risk” (level 2/5) covers the rest of the state.
