The storm in Tuscaloosa is the storm of the hour. The remainder of the storms across the state have weakened.
They extend along US-80 from Greene and Hale Counties to Selma and Montgomery.
Scattered showers and storms will form by mid-afternoon as temperatures soar into the middle and upper 90s again. Some of them will be heavy.
Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
The heat and humidity over Alabama have conspired to form scattered storms over Central Alabama this afternoon. Although they aren’t severe, they have dangerous lightning, gusty winds, and maybe even some small hail.
While most people will look up and see plenty of blue skies, a few clouds are drifting over portions of Central Alabama, with the possibility of a few more forming this afternoon, along with a small chance of a few isolated showers.
Expect scorching temperatures to dominate the weekend, with relentless heat and minimal relief in the forecast.
