The sky is clearing across Alabama today, and we will see ample sunshine by the end of the day. It remains cold outside as temperatures are struggling to climb out of the 40s this afternoon.
Temperatures are above average again today with highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s with more clouds than sun. We are seeing some showers on the radar across the state, but not the coverage we have seen the past few days.

These areas of rain will continue the next few hours, but should decrease in coverage this afternoon. Today is warmer with afternoon highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s.
Big changes in the weather for Alabama this week as we go from the bitterly cold Arctic air to more of an early spring-like pattern with much warmer temperatures. We are seeing temperatures rise into the 50s this afternoon, followed by 60s tomorrow. For the rest of the week, expect highs to range from the upper 60s to mid 70s.
Hard Freeze Warnings are in effect for much of Alabama tonight and tomorrow night, and Wind Chill Advisory is in effect for at least the northern third of the state as wind chills could even fall below zero.
Clouds are increasing and some light rain/wintry precipitation is moving into West and Northwest Alabama and will continue to spread east through the afternoon hours and into tonight.

Temperatures are in the teens and 20s across Alabama and will not change much the rest of today. Roads remain icy and dangerous over much of North, Central, and West Alabama.
Dangerously cold Arctic air is dropping south into Alabama today brining the coldest air since December 2022 to Alabama and the Deep South. We are seeing quite the temperature gradient across the state with teens in the Tennessee Valley, and mid to upper 50s across South Alabama.
Quiet today, but storms tomorrow will be capable of producing strong, damaging straight line winds, large hail, and some tornadoes. A few strong tornadoes (EF-2 or higher) are possible in the “enhanced risk” area over East and Southeast Alabama.

A wind advisory has been issued for all of Alabama through tonight, while a High Wind Warning is in effect for the coastal counties. Gradient winds (not related to thunderstorms) will gust to 45/50 mph statewide late this afternoon, overnight, and into early tomorrow morning.
