People in the extreme northern parts of Shelby County should be ready to go to your place of safety just in case that this goes warned for a tornado. Communities in the path are Alabaster, Helena, and Pelham.
At 228 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated moderate to heavy rain continued to spread across areas that have already received two to three inches during the past 24 hours.
Another small rotation has popped up within the past minute or two just southwest of Bessemer. Get to your place of safety if you are in Bessemer, Lipscomb, Midfield, and Fairfield. This could get stronger and make a touch down at any time.
Broad rotation is showing up on Radar around North Johns, and is moving to the northeast. Communities in the path are Hueytown, Concord, Midfield, Fairfield, Pleasant Grove, and Sylvan Springs. Go ahead and get into a place of safety just in case the rotation tightens and a tornado warning is issued.
At 142 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated moderate to heavy rain continued to spread across the area. Rainfall of two to three inches with localized higher totals has fallen over this area during the past twenty four hours.
No warnings as of 1:48 pm. but all storms today are capable of producing quick hitting tornadoes. Be ready to go immediately to your safe place if warnings are issued for your location.

There is fairly significant damage in western Jefferson County around Valley Road in McCalla and in Fairfield near Western Hills Mall
A Tornado Watch has been issued for nearly all of Central Alabama until 10PM CDT tonight.
The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits, and no longer appears capable of producing a tornado. Therefore the warning has been cancelled.
At 12:26 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Fairfield, moving northeast at 30 mph.
Rotation is showing up on radar in between Fairfield and Lipscomb near Midfield. Cell is moving to the north-northeast, and people in the path of this storm need to take shelter even though there is no warning at this time.
Storms have flared southwest of Birmingham, with lightning and heavy rain. We will be watching cells like this to make sure they don’t develop small tornadoes all day.
