A funnel cloud has been reported with the tornado warned storm up in Madison County, very close to Meridianville. This storm is moving to the northeast at 40 MPH. The good news is that the storm appears to be weakening some and the rotation is staying aloft, but a cell merger is about to occur so we have to watch for a sudden uptick in strength.
At 12:42 PM CDT, Doppler Radar Was Tracking A Strong Thunderstorm 7 Miles Southeast Of Carbon Hill, Moving East At 35 Mph. Winds In Excess Of 40 Mph Will Be Possible With This Storm.
Strong to severe storms expected this afternoon with large hail and damaging winds as the primary threat.
At 12:24 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Harvest, or 7 miles east of Athens, moving east at 45 mph.
At 12:10 PM CDT, Doppler Radar Was Tracking A Strong Thunderstorm Near Athens, Moving East At 40 Mph. Pea Size Hail And Winds In Excess Of 40 Mph Will Be Possible With This Storm.
At 11:40 AM CDT, Doppler Radar Was Tracking A Strong Thunderstorm Near Caledonia, Or 9 Miles Northeast Of Columbus Afb, Moving East At 35 Mph. Pea Size Hail And Wind Gusts Up To 50 Mph Will Be Possible With This Storm.
Radar check at 10:45 AM shows that all of Central Alabama is virtually dry at this point, but a batch of showers and thunderstorms will be moving into the western parts of Franklin, Marion, and Lamar counties within the next 30-60 minutes.
At 11:11 AM CDT, Doppler Radar Was Tracking Strong Thunderstorms Along A Line Extending From 8 Miles Southeast Of Smithville To 6 Miles Southeast Of Amory To 6 Miles East Of Aberdeen. Movement Was East At 40 Mph. Pea Size Hail And Winds In Excess Of 40 Mph Will Be Possible With These Storms.

A cluster of storms will continue east across northern Mississippi this morning, with some threat of damaging winds. Although a watch is not anticipated within the next hour or two, storm trends will be monitored for an increase in organization by late morning/early afternoon.
