At 4:32 PM CDT, Doppler Radar Was Tracking A Strong Storm Near West Greene, Or 12 Miles Northwest Of Eutaw, Moving North At 40 Mph. Winds In Excess Of 40 Mph Will Be Possible With This Storm.
A very well-defined rotational couplet is showing on Jackson radar on a cell just to the west of Newellton, Mississippi that is heading to the northeast straight towards Mound and Vicksburg.
As of 4:00 pm, much of the active storms are over the northern parts of Louisiana and into the southern parts of Arkansas.
A Tornado Watch has just been issued for the southeastern corner of Arkansas, eastern parts of Louisiana, and the west and southwestern parts of Mississippi.
Since the last update a couple of hours ago, the shower activity across North/Central Alabama has really quieted down.
We are continuing to have showers and a few embedded thunderstorms over the northwestern parts of North/Central Alabama as we have reached the midday hour, along with some scattered activity well south of the I-20 corridor.
At 10:45 am, radar shows most of the shower activity is located over the northwestern parts of North/Central Alabama, with a few scattered showers over the northeastern parts and over the southern parts of the area.
We have the potential for strong to severe storms across Central Alabama during the late night hours tonight and through the morning hours on Sunday before we dry out and cool off for a day. Then we warm right back up and have another potential severe weather threat during the latter part of the week.
A vigorous weather system will bring the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms across Alabama after midnight into tomorrow morning. While instability values are relatively modest, the dynamics involved will overcome that, most likely, with jet stream level winds of 120 knots, and 90 knots at 500 mb (18.000 feet off the ground). Strong to extreme low level shear will be in place.
Spring break was pretty epic for the Littles. We set sail on a Disney Cruise and spent a few days in the parks at Disney World. It was incredible! And much needed.
