Dry Through Most Of The Weekend

| May 7, 2021 @ 5:45 am

SUNNY FRIDAY: Following the fast moving line of windy showers last night, a new surge of cool, dry air has settled into Alabama this morning. Many communities over the northern half of the state are in the cool 40s; look for a high between 68 and 72 degrees today with sunshine in full supply. The average high for Birmingham on May 7 is 80.

The weather stays dry tomorrow… with a partly to mostly sunny sky the high will be in the mid to upper 70s. And, the daytime hours Sunday should remain rain-free. The high Sunday will be close to 80 degrees with a partially sunny sky. A band of showers and storms will likely push into the state Sunday night, however, ahead of a cold front.

NEXT WEEK: That front will become stationary across the Deep South early next week, and the weather looks unsettled with some risk of showers and thunderstorms on a daily basis Monday through Thursday. Timing out the individual rounds of rain is almost impossible to do at this point; rain amounts of 2-3 inches look likely Sunday night through Thursday. For now the overall severe weather threat looks low during the week as instability values won’t be especially high. Dry air returns to the state Friday… See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.
