For today, we are seeing clouds with areas of rain and storms. The main area of rain and storms will remain over the northern half of the state, with more scattered activity across southern counties of the state.Temperatures are cooler today with highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s.
RADAR CHECK: At mid-afternoon showers and a few thunderstorms continue across the northwest corner of Alabama… the rest of the state is mostly cloudy and warm with temperatures in the 77-81 degree range.

ACTIVE WEATHER AHEAD: A dynamic weather system will bring showers and thunderstorms into Alabama later today and tonight. SPC maintains an “enhanced risk” (level 3/5) of severe thunderstorms for about the northern third of the state (from Birmingham north), with a “slight risk” (level 2/5) down to the Gulf Coast.
A band of showers and thunderstorms will push into Alabama late tonight. These storms will be strong and there could be a few severe storms, but the line of storms will be weakening as the push into and through the state.
RADAR CHECK: A band of rain and strong thunderstorms continues to push into North and West Alabama early this morning. The storms have been generally weakening, but a tornado warning was issued for parts of Lamar County between 5 and 6 a.m.
Rain is ongoing across Alabama today, and heavier rain and storms are increasing in coverage and will continue to do so through the afternoon, evening, and overnight hours. Some strong and severe storms are possible, but flooding will be the main concern with this event the next 24 hours.
A flood watch is in effect as rain amounts of 1-3 inches are likely; isolated totals to 4 inches are possible with our next storm system Friday, Friday night, and into Saturday.

THIS AFTERNOON: It is a mild November afternoon across Alabama with a mix of sun and clouds; temperatures have reached the low 70s in many areas. Clouds will increase over the next few hours ahead of a significant weather system approaching from the west.
ACTIVE WEATHER AHEAD: We have a few spotty showers on radar early this morning across Alabama; the air is cool and stable with temperatures in the 40s and 50s at daybreak. The sky will be generally cloudy today with a high at or over 70 degrees in many locations this afternoon. Tonight an organized batch of rain and thunderstorms will roll into the state tonight ahead of a dynamic storm system.
RADAR CHECK: Most of Alabama is rain-free at mid afternoon… with a mix of sun and clouds temperatures are in the 88-92 degree range. Again Mobile is the exception… they are at 97 degrees as I write this. We still have a chance of strong thunderstorms between now and around 10:00 p.m., but SPC has trimmed back the severe weather risk areas on their midday update.
