Rain Moves Into Alabama Late Tonight; Very Low End Severe Weather Threat
LIKE SPRING: Temperatures are over 70 degrees across much of Alabama this afternoon… and we note Montgomery and Dothan have reached the 80 degree mark. Some sun is peeking through the clouds, and there is very little rain on radar.
Brighter/Drier Weather Returns To Alabama Tomorrow
RADAR CHECK: As advertised, we have a cold, soaking rain falling over the northern 2/3 of Alabama this afternoon with temperatures mostly in the 40s. A few showers and storms are possible for the far southern counties of the state this evening, but rain amounts there will be much lighter. All of the rain will end tonight as dry air begins to push into the state.

RADAR CHECK: Areas of light rain and drizzle are over the northern half of Alabama early this morning with temperatures ranging from the 30s over the Tennessee Valley to the 50s across South Alabama. We expect a widespread, soaking rain for the northern 2/3 of Alabama later today and early tonight with rain amounts of 1 to 2 inches.
Wind/Rain/Storms For Alabama Tonight
HIGH IMPACT WEATHER TONIGHT: Alabama’s weather will stay dry today with a partly sunny sky… expect highs in the 50s over the northern counties this afternoon, with 60s to the south. Clouds will increase late in the day.
A dynamic weather system will bring wind, rain, and thunderstorms to the state tonight. SPC maintains an enhanced risk (level 3/5) of severe storms tonight for areas south of a line from Millry to Evergreen to Brewton. A “slight risk” (level 2/5) extends as far north and east as Sweetwater, Greenville, and Geneva. A “marginal risk” is defined as far north as Tuscaloosa, but severe thunderstorms are not expected over North/Central Alabama with no surface based instability available.

RADAR CHECK: We have areas of light rain across most of Alabama early this morning with temperatures generally in the low 40s. Expect some light rain at times through the day with a cloudy sky… temperatures hold in the 42-46 degree range. Then, tomorrow will be a dry day with a mix of sun and clouds; temperatures reach the low to mid 50s.
Rain At Times Through Tomorrow; Frigid, Arctic Air Arrives Friday
RADAR CHECK: Light rain is moving into Alabama this afternoon; some sleet was mixed with the rain as it started to fall over parts of West Alabama earlier this afternoon. Expect periods of rain through tomorrow; the most widespread rain will be over the southern half of the state… amounts should be generally under 1/2 inch. Otherwise, it will be cloudy and cold through tomorrow.
Rain Tonight/Tomorrow Morning; Temperatures Stay Mild
HAPPY THANKSGIVING: As expected, today has been a dry, mild Thanksgiving Day across Alabama with temperatures in the low 70s in many areas this afternoon. This is about ten degrees above average for November 24. Rain will move into the state tonight, continuing tomorrow morning; amounts of 1/2 to 1 inch are likely. Some thunder is possible, but there is no risk of severe thunderstorms.
Rain Ends From West To East Later Today
RADAR CHECK: As advertised, rain is widespread across Alabama early this morning with temperatures in the upper 40s and low 50s in most spots. Rain will end across West Alabama later this morning, and the final batch of showers should move out of East Alabama by mid-afternoon. Otherwise, today will be cloudy with cool with a high in the low to mid 50s.
Rain Tonight/Tomorrow; Temps Stay Below Average
CHANGES AHEAD: Clouds will continue to increase across Alabama over the next few hours, and widespread rain is likely late tonight into tomorrow morning. It still looks like most of the rain will come from about midnight tonight through 12 noon tomorrow, although a few showers could linger over East Alabama tomorrow afternoon.

NICOLE TO BRING RAIN TO PARTS OF ALABAMA: Tropical Storm Nicole will bring rain to a decent part of Alabama over the next 36 hours. Clouds will increase today, and rain will enter the southeast corner of the state by mid to late afternoon. The high this afternoon will be in the low to mid 70s.
Drier Air Enters North Alabama Late Tonight; A Few Storms For South Alabama Tomorrow
RADAR CHECK: Rain and thunderstorms are fairly widespread over the northern half of Alabama this afternoon… heavier storms are producing small hail and strong gusty winds. Temperatures have cooled into the 70s where rain is falling… but South Alabama is mostly sunny with temperatures hovering around 90 degrees. Showers and storms will taper off tonight as a front pushes into the state from the north, and the air becomes more stable.

RADAR CHECK: Rain is falling across much of East Alabama this afternoon, and more rain is moving into the western counties. Rain will be widespread statewide tonight as a wave of low pressure moves along a stalled front over South Alabama; SPC has defined a “slight risk” (level 2/5) of severe thunderstorms tonight for parts of South Alabama, including Mobile and Baldwin counties, with a “marginal risk” (level 1/5) as far north as Thomasville, Hope Hull, and Troy.
Rain Moves Back In Later Today; Late Season Freeze This Weekend
RADAR CHECK: Showers are increasing along and north of a stalled surface front over South Alabama early this morning. A wave of low pressure forms along the front today, and rain becomes widespread statewide this afternoon and tonight. The air will be cool and stable over most of the state (highs will be in the 50s today north of the front), but SPC has defined a low end “marginal risk” of severe thunderstorms for Mobile and Baldwin counties, and some of the adjacent counties.
