WARM, DRY AFTERNOON: The sky is partly to mostly sunny across Alabama this afternoon with temperatures generally in the 80s. Clouds will increase tonight ahead of an approaching storm system. Some rain is likely after midnight.

WARM, DRY MAY DAY: With a good supply of sunshine, expect a high in the mid to upper 80s across Alabama today. Clouds will increase late this afternoon and tonight ahead of a storm system to the west.

QUIET WEATHER: We note a few small, isolated showers across Northeast Alabama this afternoon, otherwise the sky is partly sunny with temperatures in the 70s over the northern half of the state and 80 over the southern counties. Tonight will be mostly fair with a low in the 60-65 degree range.
Drier air is moving into Alabama today and will continue into tomorrow. Both these days will be mainly dry with only a few isolated showers over the northeastern portions of the state today. Highs today and tomorrow will range from the low to mid 80s with more sun than clouds.

MOSTLY DRY THROUGH TOMORROW: We expect a mix of sun and clouds across Alabama today with a high in the low to mid 80s. A few small, isolated showers could pop up this afternoon over the northeast corner of the state, but even there most communities will be rain-free.
The NWS in Huntsville has added Jackson County to the severe thunderstorm watch and dropped Franklin, Colbert, and Lauderdale Counties.
At 642 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Gurley, or 12 miles southeast of Moores Mill, moving east at 30 mph.
The strongest storm is the one near Haleyville in Winston County and the one in Madison County between Huntsville and Gurley. Neither are quite severe, but they both have hail to the size of mothballs and winds that could gust to 40 mph.
