NWS Birmingham has decided to extend the Tornado Watch until 7 pm tonight for Pike and Barbour counties, while canceling the watch for Bullock and Russell counties.
NWS Birmingham has canceled the Tornado Watch for Lowndes, Macon, and Montgomery counties in Central Alabama. The watch remains in effect until 6 pm for Barbour, Bullock, Pike, and Russell counties and will be allowed to expire on time.
Much of the activity is located over the extreme southern and southeastern parts of the area and down into South Alabama. For our parts of the state, the storms are staying well-behaved, but not to the south of us.
The severe threat will continue spreading southeastward of the active Tornado Watch, though the localized and brief nature of the threat will likely preclude watch issuance.
At 453 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.
At 440 PM CST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Ansley, or 8 miles northwest of Troy, moving east at 30 mph.
NWS Birmingham has canceled the Tornado Watch for Autauga, Dallas, Greene, Hale, Marengo, Perry, and Sumter counties as the threat for severe weather has come to an end for the day.
The severe threat will continue across much of the Tornado Watch area for the next 1-2 hours before gradually diminishing this evening.
At 304 PM CST, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles southwest of Dannelly Reservoir, or 7 miles north of Camden, moving east at 30 mph.
NWS Birmingham has canceled the Tornado Watch for Bibb and Chilton counties in Central Alabama as the severe threat has ended for the day.
The main line of rain and thunderstorms stretches from Fruithurst back to the southwest through Alexander City to Autaugaville, before the activity become semi-discrete through the southern portions of Marengo County and into the extreme southwestern portions of the state.
At 216 PM CST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Saint Stephens, or 8 miles west of Jackson, moving east at 30 mph.

The latest Mesoscale Discussion just put out by the SPC mentions that the stronger cells moving out of Mississippi into the southwestern parts of Alabama may pose an increased threat for tornadoes as more moisture-rich air continues to move up into the area.
