This afternoon, despite sunshine in full supply, it remains very cold with highs only in the low to mid 30s, almost 30 degrees below average for this time of year.
Blue sky and sunshine fill the Alabama sky on this President’s Day holiday. After the frosty start to the day, we are seeing temperatures this afternoon range from the upper 40s to lower 50s.
SUNNY MONDAY: Temperatures are below freezing over much of Alabama early this morning; expect a high in the 45-55 degree range today with a good supply of sunshine. Dry weather continues tomorrow with a high in the 50s, but clouds will increase late in the day.
The SPC maintains an “enhanced risk” (level 3/5) for parts of West Alabama, with a “slight risk” (level 2/5) for the rest of the state. The greatest chance for severe storms will be to the west tomorrow, and that is where the tornado threat will be highest, especially across North Mississippi, but the storms to our west will congeal into a line of strong and severe storms.
A very warm week of weather is ahead for Alabama as we are feeling a very early taste of spring as highs will be 15-25 degrees above average.
Plenty of sunshine across Alabama today and after the frosty and foggy morning, temperatures are warming up nicely with highs in the mid to upper 50s, with a few low 60s to the south.
Today and tomorrow will feature plenty of sunshine, but temperatures will remain below average with highs in the mid to upper 40s today, but we should see low 50s tomorrow afternoon. Tonight will be another frigid night with upper teens and lower 20s.
With a clear sky across the Deep South, we can see the swatch of snow from Texas to Carolinas from yesterday’s winter storm. The white of the snow has a high albedo and reflects the sunlight, allowing it to be seen from space.
A winter storm will impact the southern U.S. from Southeast Texas to eastern North Carolina tonight through Wednesday. For Alabama, the snow will come tomorrow mainly over the southern counties of the state.
Today we are seeing sunshine in full supply with afternoon highs in the mid to upper 50s; tonight, lows will be in the upper 20s and lower 30s. Tomorrow, southerly flow begins, allowing temperatures to climb into the upper 50s and lower 60s.

The morning clouds are giving way to afternoon sunshine across Alabama. Today through Thursday, we are experiencing cold days with highs in the upper 30s to lower 40s, despite tons of sunshine in the forecast.
We continue to see dry and sunny weather today with temperatures right where they should be this time of year; highs in the low to mid 50s. An “Alberta Clipper” system is moving through the state today and will bring colder air to the state tonight and tomorrow. Lows tonight will fall into the 20s.
