Some afternoon storms are possible as a cold front approaches, and some of these storms could be strong producing damaging wind gusts and hail. It is not going to storm everywhere, as these will be mainly over the southern third of the state, along and south of Montgomery.
Late this morning, we are watching a cluster of showers ands storms over northern portions of Alabama. These aren’t moving much, but we are likely to see additional showers and storms develop across the Alabama landscape through the afternoon hours.
Large areas of rain and storms continue to move through the state today, including stronger thunderstorms across the southern third of the state. For now, the more intense activity is over the southern half of the state. For the rest of today, tonight, and through tomorrow, rain and storms will remain in the forecast for Alabama.
The weather remains unsettled with some scattered showers currently and a better chance of showers and storms this afternoon and evening.
Today we are seeing a mix of sun and clouds and very warm temperatures with temperatures well into the mid and upper 80s this afternoon. Scattered, random showers and storms will once again be on the radar this afternoon and evening across the state.
A major severe weather outbreak is expected today and tonight across the Plains. Multiple strong, long-tracked tornadoes, as well as very large hail and severe thunderstorms gusts are expected.
More clouds than sun across Alabama today and through the weekend. The clouds will also produce with scattered showers and some rumbles of thunder the rest of today and into tonight. Highs today are in the mid 80s.
Showers and storms are continuing to push east through North/Central Alabama late this morning and into the afternoon as a dynamic storm system passes well north of Alabama.
For today, we are seeing clouds with areas of rain and storms. The main area of rain and storms will remain over the northern half of the state, with more scattered activity across southern counties of the state.Temperatures are cooler today with highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s.
The stronger storms from this morning are now over southern portions of the state, where a severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect this afternoon; the severe weather threat is over for the northern half of the state.
ROUTINE SUMMER WEATHER: We expect a routine summer weather pattern for Alabama today, tomorrow, and over the weekend. The classic mix of sun, heat, humidity, and random, scattered showers and thunderstorms. Most of the storms will come from noon to midnight, and odds of any one spot getting wet are around 25 percent today, and then in the 35-45 percent range tomorrow through Sunday.
RADAR CHECK: Most of the showers and thunderstorms across Alabama today so far have been over the Tennessee Valley, otherwise the sky is partly to mostly sunny with temperatures mostly in the 88-92 degree range. We will maintain the chance of scattered storms through the evening hours.
ROUTINE SUMMER WEATHER CONTINUES: Alabama’s weather won’t change much through Sunday… we expect a mix of sun and clouds each day with the usual round of daily scattered showers and thunderstorms, most active between 12:00 noon and 10:00 p.m. The chance of any one specific spot getting wet each day is 40-50 percent; the high today will be in the low 90s, close to 90 tomorrow, and in the upper 80s Sunday.
