RADAR CHECK: We have a large area of light rain across much of Central Alabama early this morning, but it will end over the next couple of hours. Clouds will linger, and the high today will be in the mid 50s, about 10-15 degrees below average for early November in Alabama. Clearing begins late tonight over the northwest corner of the state and parts of the Tennessee Valley, and that could result in some spots there seeing lows in the mid 30s early tomorrow with frost.

COOL AIR ROLLING INTO THE STATE: The cold front that passed through early this morning is bringing a nice shot of cool, dry air into Alabama this afternoon. Temperatures are only in the 68-73 degree range with fresh north breeze; the sky is partly sunny. Tonight will be clear and cool with a low in the 45-55 degree range. FYI… the last time Birmingham experience a low below 50 degrees was May 14 when the low was 49.

RADAR CHECK: Rain is widespread early this morning over East and South Alabama, with heavier thunderstorms moving along the Gulf Coast. Rain will end later this morning, and the rest of the day looks mostly dry with only isolated showers through tonight. Clouds will linger through the day, and temperatures over the northern half of the state will be about 15 to 20 degrees below average for mid-May with highs only in the low to mid 60s.

COOL MAY DAY: Temperatures are only in the mid-60s across parts of North Alabama this afternoon, almost 20 degrees below average for the middle of May. An upper low over Tennessee has pushed clouds into the northern half of the state keeping temperatures down. But, to the south, there is a decent amount of sunshine over the southern half of the state, where mid-80s are being reported. The radar is very quiet, showing basically nothing over all of Alabama at mid-afternoon. We will keep the chance of scattered showers in the forecast for North Alabama this evening, but most places will be dry.
