RADAR CHECK: This morning we are watching a band of showers and storms lined up ahead of a surface front from near Nashville to Oxford, MS to Monroe, LA. This front will stall out later today near the northwest corner of Alabama; it will bring some rain to mainly the northern half of the state. It won’t rain everywhere, and most of South Alabama will stay dry.
Partly cloudy skies, warm temperatures, and a hazy, summery feel dominate this Easter Sunday, with changes on the way as rain chances return Monday.
Spring is here, and that means longer days, warmer weather and the perfect excuse to make an elegant Spring Crudités Platter.
Warm and dry weather will make for a beautiful Easter Sunday across Alabama, with a breezy afternoon, increasing clouds by evening, and a stretch of unsettled days ahead as a stalled front brings waves of rain and storms into the workweek.

Easter Weekend will be dry and warm across the state. However, we’ll have to keep the rain gear handy for the work week. And, as always, we’ll be watching the radar like a hawk. Here is what I got for today’s briefing.
WARM SPRING DAY: Temperatures are in the low 80s across most of Alabama this afternoon with a good supply of sunshine. We note the average high for Birmingham on April 18 is 76. Tonight will be mostly fair with a low in the 57-64 degree range.
High pressure to our east and an upper ridge over the top of us means warm days ahead with afternoon highs around ten degrees above average for this time of year.
When Nicole McLaughlin cooks, you can usually count on her to add a surprise to the recipe. We saw her introduce okra for an amazing Alabama ratatouille to take it to another level.
SUMMER PREVIEW: An upper ridge across the Southeast U.S. will bring some of the warmest weather so far this year to Alabama and the Deep South through the Easter weekend with highs well into the 80s daily. A few spots will approach 90 degrees tomorrow, about 10 to 15 degrees above average for mid to late April.
SUNNY APRIL AFTERNOON: Temperatures are close to the 80 degree mark at mid-afternoon across Alabama with a sunny sky. Tonight will be clear with a low in the 50s.
The area of high pressure responsible for our amazing weather, has slid east into the Carolinas today, allowing our winds to become more southerly.
