At 3:07 PM CST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Equality, moving east at 45 mph.
At 3:05 PM CST, a confirmed tornado was located over Eclectic, or 9 miles northeast of Wetumpka, moving northeast at 55 mph.
NWS Birmingham has removed Autauga, Chilton, Dallas, Shelby, and St. Clair counties from the Tornado Watch as the threat of severe storms has come to an end.
We currently have two separate Tornado Warnings in effect for parts of Elmore and Montgomery counties until 3:30 pm and the other for parts of Elmore, Tallapoosa and Coosa counties until 3:15 pm.
At 2:22 PM CST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Booth, or 8 miles northwest of Prattville, moving northeast at 55 mph.
As the line of storms continues to move eastward through the east-central and south-central parts of the area, the threat for strong to severe storms has ended for those locations west of the squall line.
NWS Birmingham has removed Hale, Marengo, and Tuscaloosa counties from the Tornado Watch as the threat of severe weather has ended for those locations.
The strongest part of the line of storms is moving into the central parts of the area, now stretching from Cullman to Warrior to Bessemer to Brent and to Uniontown.
Threat for damaging wind and a few tornadoes will persist into the afternoon from southeast MS through southern and central AL and the western FL panhandle.
A line of moderate to heavy rain with a few embedded claps of thunder continues to push its way across the western parts of Central Alabama. As of 11:20 AM, we currently do not have any active severe weather warnings in the area, which is a good relief considering we had a brief run of tornado warnings not that long ago.
The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits, and no longer appears capable of producing a tornado.
NWS Birmingham has expanded the Tornado Watch northward a little bit to include Jefferson, St. Clair, and Tuscaloosa counties.
The storm over Tuscaloosa has reintensified and could produce a tornado as it exits northeastern Tuscaloosa County and moves into western Jefferson County.
The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits, and no longer appears capable of producing a tornado.
