SEVERE STORMS TOMORROW NIGHT: We have potential for strong to severe thunderstorms over Alabama tomorrow night into early Wednesday morning. SPC has defined an “enhanced risk” (level 3/5) for the northwest corner of the state around the Shoals down to Millport… there is a “slight risk” (level 2/5) as far east as Scottsboro, Prattville, and Breton, and a “marginal risk” (level 1/5) down to Opelika and Enterprise.
Rickwood Caverns State Park is just off Interstate 65 in Warrior, about 30 miles north of downtown Birmingham and about 75 miles south of Huntsville.

DRY TODAY: With a good supply of sunshine, we project a high in the mid 60s this afternoon across the northern half of Alabama… some South Alabama communities will see low 70s. Clouds increase tomorrow ahead of a storm system, and a few showers could break out by late afternoon as moisture levels rise quickly. The high tomorrow will be in the 67-71 degree range.

A brisk, breezy Sunday is in progress across Alabama with clouds thickening on the back side of a big low-pressure system that is near Cleveland, Ohio. Those clouds will affect the northern half of the state through tonight, along with some fog. Storms are likely here Tuesday night and Wednesday, with a pretty significant severe threat to our west. We may have strong storms, but no major severe weather in Alabama.
For me, there’s not much more comforting than a big bowl of white beans with a chunk of cornbread and some diced fresh onion. And it’s a bonus if that bowl of beans is filled with chunks of ham and smoky ham flavor.
Skies will clear quickly across much of the area today behind a cold front, but clouds will hang tough over northern Alabama for much of the day.
Rain and storms are pushing eastward across Alabama and Northwest Florida tonight. The rain will move out overnight as a cold front pushes through the state.

For much of Central Alabama, especially in the central and eastern parts, rainfall may be very light or evaporating before reaching the ground where the echoes are showing up on radar.
The Storm Prediction Center just released their mid-afternoon update to the Day One Severe Weather Outlook, and the level one Marginal Risk for severe storms has been nudged slightly northward to include a little more of the southern parts of Central Alabama.
For now, we continue to see light rain falling over several locations on the western side of Central Alabama with a few echoes encroaching in on the eastern half. We also have light showers falling over a good portion of the North Alabama counties.
