RADAR CHECK: Light rain continues to develop across Alabama early this morning, and we will forecast occasional rain through tonight as an upper trough approaches. The day will be cloudy and cool with highs in the mid 60s for most communities; rain amounts will be around 1/2 inch through late tonight.
RADAR CHECK: Rain and strong thunderstorms continue to push through South Alabama this afternoon; heavier storms there are capable of producing hail and strong winds. A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the southern third of the state until 7p CT.
RADAR CHECK: Rain is widespread across Alabama this afternoon with the exception of the southeast part of the state. A flash flood watch will remain in effect tonight for the central and southern counties.
RADAR CHECK: Showers and thunderstorms continue to increase across Alabama this afternoon; rain will continue at times through tonight. Rain amounts of 1/2 to 1 inch are likely over most of the state before it ends after midnight.
RADAR CHECK: Rain is falling early this morning over much of Northwest and East Alabama, and another large rain mass is near the Gulf Coast. We are forecasting periods of rain through tonight, with potential for a few thunderstorms as well. No risk of severe storms, and rain amounts over the next 24 hours should be in the 1/2 to 1 inch range across the state.
We are seeing a widespread soaking rain with embedded rumbles of thunder across Alabama today. Today is one of those days we can day there is a 100% of rain, with every part of the state seeing the wet stuff. The rainfall is heavy at times, and some areas of isolated flooding are possible.
RADAR CHECK: Rain is fairly widespread across Alabama early this morning with temperatures mostly in the 47-54 degree range. Today will feature occasional rain along with a few embedded thunderstorms along with a high in the 50s.
RADAR CHECK: Soaking rain is falling across much of North and West Alabama this afternoon… the big rain mass is slowly shifting eastward. A flash flood watch will remain in effect through tomorrow for that part of Alabama north of a line from Mobile to Montgomery to Opelika.
RADAR CHECK: We have areas of light rain and drizzle over the northern half Alabama this afternoon… this will continue through around midnight tonight. Rain amounts will be very light, mostly under one-tenth of an inch. On the positive side, temperatures are above average across all of Alabama, including the Tennessee Valley, so additional ice accumulation isn’t likely.
TODAY: Temperatures are below freezing across Alabama, mostly in the 15-25 degree range… not as cold as yesterday morning. The sky becomes cloudy today, and we will mention the chance of some light rain at times. Initially over West Alabama late this morning, then spreading eastward through the afternoon.
RADAR CHECK: A line of severe thunderstorms is moving through South Alabama early this morning, where multiple severe thunderstorm warnings are in effect. Ahead of the line, scattered severe storms have developed as well, some with signs of producing a tornado.
RADAR CHECK: Rain continues to increase across Alabama this afternoon ahead of a dynamic weather system that will bring a variety of threats tonight and tomorrow morning.
WET NIGHT AHEAD: Clouds have been increasing across Alabama today ahead of a storm system that will bring widespread rain to the state tonight.
COLD START: Temperatures are below freezing across the northern 2/3 of Alabama this morning with a mostly fair sky. Temperatures will reach the 50s this afternoon over North Alabama, with low 60s for the southern counties of the state. Clouds will increase ahead of a weather system that will bring rain to the Deep South late this afternoon and tonight.
