CLOUDS HANGING TOUGH: The sky is cloudy over almost all of Alabama this afternoon with temperatures in the 47-57 degree range. Clouds will linger tonight with temperatures early tomorrow in the upper 30s and low 40s. The weekend will be brighter… the sky becomes mostly sunny tomorrow with a high in the low to mid 60s, and Sunday will feature sun in full supply with a high in the mid to upper 60s.
CLOUDS LINGER: We are forecasting dry weather for Alabama today, but clouds will linger over the northern half of the state with an upper trough just to the east. The high today will be in the 55-60 degree range for North/Central Alabama, but South Alabama will see highs in the 60s with a mostly sunny sky there. The average high for Birmingham on March 19 is 68.
SUNNY DAY: Nothing but sunshine across Alabama this afternoon; temperatures are generally in the mid to upper 50s. Tonight will be mostly fair with a low in the 30-35 degree range early tomorrow morning.
RAIN RETURNS EARLY TOMORROW: Today will be dry across Alabama; with a partly sunny sky we expect a high in the mid 50s, right at seasonal values for mid-December. Clouds will increase this afternoon, and an upper trough will push light rain into the state after midnight tonight. The main window for rain comes from about 3:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon tomorrow
COOL SEPTEMBER DAY: The average high on September 22 at Birmingham is 83; temperatures are only in the upper 60s and low 70s across much of Alabama this afternoon. The sky is mostly cloudy, and we have seen a few sprinkles and patches of light rain around, especially on the western side of the state. The sky will stay generally cloudy tomorrow; a few showers are possible over West Alabama during the day, but rain becomes more likely statewide as the remnant circulation of former Tropical Storm Beta gets closer.
Today will be another dry, pleasant day with highs in the 70s, but high clouds will be increasing from the west. Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy with a high in the 70s; a shower could reach West Alabama late in the day, but the better chance of rain comes late tomorrow night as weakening Tropical Storm Beta approaches from the west.
FINE FALL DAY: The northern half of the state is enjoying a picture perfect early autumn day; with ample sunshine, temperatures are in the low to mid 70s; the average high for September 21 at Birmingham is 84. Clouds persist over the southern counties of the state, with some patchy light rain near the coast.
Sunny, pleasant weather continues over the northern half of the state today with a high in the upper 70s… clouds linger over the southern part of the state with some light rain near the coast. Tomorrow will be a partly sunny day with a high in the mid to upper 70s over the northern counties, with clouds hanging tough over South Alabama.
COOL MAY DAY: Temperatures are only in the mid-60s across parts of North Alabama this afternoon, almost 20 degrees below average for the middle of May. An upper low over Tennessee has pushed clouds into the northern half of the state keeping temperatures down. But, to the south, there is a decent amount of sunshine over the southern half of the state, where mid-80s are being reported. The radar is very quiet, showing basically nothing over all of Alabama at mid-afternoon. We will keep the chance of scattered showers in the forecast for North Alabama this evening, but most places will be dry.
DOESN’T FEEL LIKE MAY: Temperatures are only in the 50s over the northern third of the state this afternoon… the average high for May 8 at Birmingham is 80. Light rain continues to fall, but the rain will end from west to east in the coming hours, and the sky will clear tonight. A few strong storms are still possible over far Southwest Alabama, where SPC maintains a “marginal risk” (level 1/5) of severe thunderstorms.
BLUE SKY: Temperatures have recovered nicely from the chilly start today; we are seeing readings mostly in the 68-72 degree range with a bright sunny sky. Clouds will increase tonight, however, ahead of the next approaching cold front.
TOMORROW THROUGH THE WEEKEND: Another cold front will pass through the state tomorrow with clouds and occasional showers. There could be a rumble of thunder, but no risk of severe storms. Rain amounts will be under 1/2 inch, and we won’t get out of the 60s over the northern half of the state. The sky will clear tomorrow night, and the weekend will feature sunshine in full supply Saturday and Sunday with cold mornings.
WINDY, COOL MAY DAY: Strong north winds of 15-25 mph are ushering in cool air into Alabama this afternoon as expected; temperatures are mostly in the 68-73 degree range, but we note Cullman reports only 60 degrees at 2:00. The average high for Birmingham on May 6 is 79. The sky is sunny over the southern two-thirds of the state, but some clouds have dropped down into North Alabama. Those clouds will dissipate tonight, and with a clear sky and diminishing wind we project a low in the 40-45 degrees range for most communities early tomorrow.
CALM WEATHER CONTINUES: Dry weather continues across Alabama through Thursday with partly to mostly sunny days and fair, cold nights. The high today will be in the 62-65 degree range, and some places over the Tennessee Valley won’t get out of the 50s. The average high for Birmingham on April 14 is 74.
