HIGH CLOUDS BUT DRY: A canopy of high cirrus clouds is over Alabama this afternoon; we still have some filtered sunshine with temperatures mostly in the low 60s. Nothing on radar, and we will stay dry tonight.
NICE WARM-UP TODAY: Temperatures are mostly in the 30s across Alabama this morning… and colder pockets across North/Central Alabama are around the freezing mark. We expect a nice warm-up on this Valentines Day with temperatures reaching the mid 60s this afternoon with a partly sunny sky. Clouds will increase tonight as moisture levels rise.
ACTIVE PATTERN: A warm front is now north of Alabama, and the day should be warmer with most communities enjoying a high in the 60s this afternoon. Colder air over East Alabama thanks to the cold air damming (CAD) effect) will be scoured out later in the day. The sky will be mostly cloudy, and showers during the day should be few and far between.
WARMING TREND CONTINUES: Temperatures will climb to around 60 degrees this afternoon with a partly sunny sky as the warming trend continues. Mild weather will continue over the weekend, but we won’t see as much sun tomorrow and Sunday as moisture levels rise. We will mention the chance of a few isolated showers tomorrow and Sunday, but a decent part of the weekend will be dry. Highs will be in the 60s.
FINE JANUARY DAY: Temperatures are in the 50s across Central Alabama this afternoon with a good supply of sunshine; tonight will be fair and not as cold as recent nights with a low in the 30-36 degree range for most places. Colder spots will drop below freezing.
NICE WARM-UP TODAY: Temperatures are mostly in the 20s across the northern half of Alabama this morning, but we warm into the mid 50s this afternoon as a warming trend begins. The air remains dry and the sky will be mostly sunny. Tomorrow will feature a high in the low 60s with a partly sunny sky.
WARMER TODAY, CLOUDS LINGER: Clouds and fog cover Alabama this morning with temperatures in the 40s and 50s; we rise into the low 60s this afternoon as a warming trend begins. The sky will stay mostly cloudy, but we expect few, if any showers.
FEELING BETTER: With sunshine in full supply, temperatures are mostly in the 50s across Alabama this afternoon… a good 15-20 degrees warmer than recent days. Clouds will increase across the state tonight as the next weather system approaches from the west.
STILL DRY TODAY: We are starting the day with temperatures generally in the 28-32 degree range across Alabama; we rise into the mid to upper 50s this afternoon with a partly sunny sky. Clouds will thicken tonight ahead of a developing storm system to the west.
WARMING TREND: The freezing fog that produced icy bridges and dozens of crashes across the Birmingham metro area earlier today has dissipated; we have a cloudless sky this afternoon with temperatures in the 45-50 degree range. Tonight will be clear and cold again; most communities will drop into the 20s early tomorrow morning.
FREEZING FOG: A freezing fog advisory is in effect for North/Central Alabama this morning. Fog has formed with a clear sky, light wind, and wet ground conditions. Surface temperatures are below freezing, and this is leading to ice on some bridges and overpasses. Multiple accidents have been reported on elevated Interstate highways in the Birmingham metro… so be very careful.
WARMING UP: Temperatures are in the 60s over much of West and South Alabama this afternoon as the warming trend continues, but cool air is still over Northeast Alabama where some places have struggled to get out of the 40s. The sky is mostly cloudy, and there is nothing really signifiant on radar at mid-afternoon. Tonight will be mostly cloudy with just a few isolated showers; lows early tomorrow will be in the 50s as warm air advection continues.
WARMING TREND: Temperatures are all over the board across our state early this morning… we are seeing mid 20s over Northeast Alabama, but some places on the western side of the state are twenty degrees warmer with mid 40s due to clouds and a south breeze. The sky will become mostly cloudy today, and project a high in the upper 50s this afternoon with potential for a few widely scattered showers.
FEELS BETTER THIS AFTERNOON: After lows in the 18-24 degree range for most places this morning, we have warmed nicely today, with most communities in the low 50s at mid-afternoon. Tonight will be fair and not as cold as recent nights… we drop into the 30s early tomorrow morning. Some of the colder spots will see a freeze, but most places will be in the mid to upper 30s.
