As of 8:57 pm, the line of storms was right ahead of the cold front and was stretching from Scottsboro in the northeast corner of North/Central Alabama down to the southwest through Birmingham and down to just east of Linden in Marengo County.
At 849 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated a slow moving band of thunderstorms producing very heavy rainfall rates up to 1 inch per hour.
Colbert, Franklin, and Lauderdale counties have been removed from the tornado watch as the severe threat has ended for those counties.
The severe weather threat has ended for a few counties and the National Weather Service office in Birmingham has remove those counties from the watch.
At 6:45 PM, a line of strong thunderstorms continues to push eastward across the west and northwestern parts of North/Central Alabama. No active warnings are in effect at this point, but we’ve had a few issued over the past couple of hours.
A corridor of greater severe potential exists across western portions of Central Alabama this evening. Damaging wind gusts and a tornado or two will be possible over the next couple of hours.
The threat of severe storms continues across the northwestern and western parts of North/Central Alabama.
At 559 PM CST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms with heavy rain over parts of northwestern Alabama. The rain is causing flooding. Up to 2.5 inches of rain have already fallen over parts of the area.

There are two distinct areas of rotation showing up on the radar with the tornado warned storm in parts of Noxubee and Lowndes counties in Mississippi.
At 536 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms was moving back into the advisory area. This will cause small stream flooding in the advisory area.
At 530 PM CST, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles northeast of Tremont, or 8 miles south of Red Bay, moving northeast at 65 mph.
At 528 PM CST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Tremont, or 12 miles east of Fulton, moving northeast at 55 mph.
Over the next 1-2 hours, Northwest Alabama is where we will need to watch for stronger to severe storms to either develop or move into from eastern Mississippi.
