MILD NOVEMBER WEATHER: A few sprinkles moved across Alabama during the pre-dawn hours thanks to an upper trough, but the weather will be dry today with a good supply of sunshine; we project a high in the mid 70s this afternoon. The average high for Birmingham on November 2 is 70.
THIS AFTERNOON: Clouds are increasing across Alabama this afternoon ahead of an upper trough, but the low levels are dry and we don’t expect anything more than a few sprinkles across the state tonight. The low will be in the mid 50s.
ANOTHER FOGGY START: A dense fog advisory is in effect for the northern 2/3 of Alabama early this morning; visibility is very restricted in many places… the fog will dissipate by mid-morning. The sky becomes partly to mostly sunny this afternoon with a high in the mid 70s. The average high for Birmingham on November 1 is 70.
RADAR CHECK: Clouds linger over much of Alabama this afternoon, but so far we aren’t seeing any showers through mid-afternoon. A couple of brief, isolated showers could pop up through the evening hours over the northern third of the state, but odds of any one place seeing rain are less than 15 percent. Looks like a pretty good evening for the trick or treat crowd.
MILD FRIDAY: Temperatures are well in the 70s across Alabama this afternoon with a mix of sun and clouds. Clouds will increase late tonight.
BEAUTIFUL MARCH DAY: Temperatures are in the 70s across Alabama with a mostly sunny sky. The weather stays quiet tonight around here, but we will be watching developments to the west… a dynamic weather system will bring severe storms to the eastern half of Texas. This activity will begin to move into West Alabama tomorrow afternoon.
SUNNY MARCH DAY: We have a beautiful afternoon across Alabama… with a sunny sky temperatures are in the low to mid 70s. Clouds will return tonight, however, and tomorrow promises to be an active day with potential for heavy rain and severe thunderstorms.
SPC has upgraded parts of South Alabama to an “enhanced risk” (level 3/5)… this includes places like Mobile, Gulf Shores, Jackson, Atmore, Monroeville, Evergreen, Andalusia, and Geneva. The rest of the state is now in a “slight risk” (level 2/5).
WILD WEATHER PATTERN: The weather across Alabama will be about as active as it gets over the next 24 hours; we will have a significant snow event for the northern counties after midnight tonight, while strong to severe thunderstorms are possible across the southern half of the state.
PLEASANT FEBRUARY AFTERNOON: For most of Alabama temperatures are in the 66-76 degree range this afternoon with a partly to mostly sunny sky… clouds are thicker across the Tennessee Valley where temperatures are holding in the 50s. Most of the rain on radar is across the state line in Tennessee.
BIG TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE: A stalled front near I-59 continues to bring a big thermal contrast across Alabama early this morning. North of the front, temperatures are in the low 40s over North and Northwest Alabama, but south of the front most places are in the 60s. We note a dense fog advisory is in effect for much of the state south of the front early this morning; this fog will dissipate by mid-morning.
SPRING-LIKE AFTERNOON: Temperatures are in the 68-74 degree range across Alabama this afternoon with a partly sunny sky. Clouds will increase tonight ahead of the approaching storm system.
ONE MORE DRY DAY: With a partly sunny sky, temperatures rise to near 70 degrees across Alabama this afternoon for a another nice spring preview. The average high for Birmingham on February 16 is 59. Clouds will thicken across the region tonight.
SPRING-LIKE DAY: Temperatures across Alabama this afternoon are generally in the 66-72 degree range, well above the average high of 58 for February 11. The sky will remain mostly fair tonight with a low in the 40s for most places.
