The new month starts off the way the last one ended, dry and very warm. Today we are seeing temperatures surge into the 80s for most locations despite more clouds than sun in the sky. Tonight will be mainly cloudy with lows in the mid to upper 60s.
WARM START TO APRIL: Today will be another warm, dry day for Alabama with a high in the low 80s in most places with a mix of sun and clouds. The weather becomes active late tomorrow and tomorrow night as an organized band of showers and thunderstorms moves into the Deep South.
The clear sky from this morning is slowing seeing clouds increase from the west and southwest ahead of our next weather system that will bring some showers to Alabama tonight and more widespread rain tomorrow.
WARM MARCH DAY: Temperatures are in the 78-83 degree range across Alabama this afternoon with a mix of sun and clouds. It is the warmest day so far this year; this is the first 80 degree day in Birmingham since November 8. Clouds will increase tonight, and a few spotty showers are possible.
WARMEST SO FAR: We are projecting a high in the 78-83 degree range across Alabama today, for many places it will be warmest day so far this year. The last time Birmingham had high of 80 or higher was on November 8, when the high was 81. Look for a mix of sun and clouds, and most places will be dry.
WARM MARCH DAY: Temperatures are well into the 70s across Alabama this afternoon with a partly to mostly sunny sky. Clouds will increase tonight ahead of the next storm system.
RADAR CHECK: We have large areas of light rain moving across North/Central Alabama early this morning… otherwise the sky is mostly cloudy with temperatures in the 60s. We project a high in the 75-80 degree range later today; most of the afternoon should be dry and the sun could peek out at times.
After the great weekend of weather across Alabama, the new work week is starting out with even better weather. It is a marvelous Monday with more sunshine than clouds and temperatures are surging into the mid and upper 70s this afternoon.
ANOTHER WARM NOVEMBER DAY: Temperatures are in the 77-83 degree range across most of Alabama this afternoon with a mostly sunny sky. Tonight will be fair with a low generally in the 50s.
WARM NOVEMBER AFTERNOON: Temperatures are mostly in the low 80s across Alabama this afternoon with a sunny sky. The average high for Birmingham on November 7 is 68. Tonight will be clear with a low generally in the 50s.
SHOWERS REMAIN SCARCE: A few widely scattered showers or storms could develop over South Alabama later today and early tonight, but the chance of any given spot there seeing rain is 25 percent or less. Otherwise, today will be dry with a partly to mostly sunny along with a high in the 85-91 degree range.
WARM SEPTEMBER AFTERNOON: Temperatures are generally in the 86-91 degree range across Alabama this afternoon… the exception is Mobile where they have soared to 94 degrees at mid-afternoon. Most of the showers on radar area across the southeast counties of the state, in areas generally east and south of Montgomery. A few small, isolated showers are forming elsewhere, but most places are dry with a partly sunny sky.
A FEW SHOWERS: We can use some rain around here; Birmingham has gone nine days without measurable rain. Tuscaloosa got a good downpour yesterday, but many places were dry. We will mention the chance of a few spotty showers and storms through tomorrow, but nothing really widespread. Odds of any one place getting wet will range from 10 percent across the Tennessee Valley of North Alabama, to 60 percent near the Gulf Coast.
RADAR CHECK: We note a few scattered showers over Southwest Alabama early this morning, otherwise it is a dry start to the day with temperatures ranging from the upper 50s over North Alabama, to the mid 70s over the western counties where clouds are in place. We expect a mix of sun and clouds today with just a few isolated showers around along with a high in the 80s.
