The Tuskegee University Golden Tigers will take the field under the lights during their first-ever home night football game on Saturday, Sept. 6, when they host SIAC rival Central State University at Abbott Memorial Alumni Stadium.
The threat of severe weather has diminished across these areas. No further severe weather watches are in effect at this time.
The watch continues for the following counties in southeastern Alabama: Barbour, Bullock, Pike, and Russell.
RADAR CHECK: A band of showers and thunderstorms ahead of a cold front is pushing through Southeast Alabama this afternoon. Some of the storms could produce small hail and gusty winds this evening.
At 2:17 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Society Hill, or about 11 miles north of Hurtsboro, moving east at 40 miles per hour.
The watch has been cancelled for Chambers, Elmore, and Tallapoosa Counties. However, it continues for Barbour, Bullock, Lee, Macon, Montgomery, Pike, and Russell Counties.
At 1:36 PM CDT, the National Weather Service in Birmingham indicated a severe thunderstorm located 9 miles west of Gordonville, or 11 miles southwest of Mosses, moving east at 40 mph.
Cancelled counties: Clay, Coosa, and Randolph are no longer included in the watch area. New counties added: Barbour and Pike have been added to the watch.
At 1203 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Verbena, or 11 miles southeast of Clanton, moving east at 40 mph.
Conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts and hail.
A cold front is pushing through the state currently, and along the front we are seeing showers and storms develop along the front moves through.
RADAR CHECK: Most of Alabama is rain-free at daybreak with only a few isolated, light showers near the Tennessee state line. But later we expect a line of showers and a few thunderstorms to form along a cold front that will be passing southward through the state today. Best chance of rain this morning will be over the northern counties, then shifting into South Alabama this afternoon.
RADAR CHECK: The large rain mass that was over Alabama this morning has moved on to the east; we have just a few spotty, widely scattered showers on radar at mid-afternoon. With a mix of sun and clouds temperatures are only in the 70s over most of the state, a good 10-15 degrees below average for late May.
