Scattered light snow showers have started to cause a few slick spots on roads in some higher elevations of Blount, St. Clair, Etowah, and Cherokee Counties.
Plenty of reports of sleet, snow, and graupel are coming in from across the northern parts of Central Alabama this afternoon, but the good news is that air temperatures are above freezing and the street-surface temperatures are well above freezing at this point.
NWS Birmingham has issued a Freeze Warning starting at 12:00 am CST Wednesday for the following counties in Central Alabama: Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, Etowah, Marion, St. Clair, Walker, and Winston. The warning is set to expire at 7:00 am CST Wednesday.
Temperatures as low as 33 will result in frost formation. A couple sheltered locations will fall below freezing.
A FROST ADVISORY has been issued for every county in North Alabama starting tonight at 9:00 pm and set to expire at 8:00 am Tuesday morning.

Dry weather will stay with us through the weekend and the work week ahead, but some colder temperatures will move in to start your Monday. The tropics stay active as well as we should have a depression by Sunday morning.
It looks like we’ll stay dry with plenty of sun until mid-week, but the mild temperatures only hang around through Sunday before we get back into the 80s for highs.
NWS Huntsville expands that same advisory to now include Cullman, DeKalb, Franklin, Lawrence, Marshall, and Morgan counties in North Alabama for the same time frame.
