Midday Nowcast: Strong and Severe Storms Return to Alabama Friday and Saturday
The Storm Prediction Center has nearly all of Alabama in threat of severe storms on Saturday, with the northern three-quarters of the state in a level 2 threat.
MOSTLY DRY TODAY: Although a few isolated showers certainly could pop up this afternoon, they should be few and few between. Most Alabama communities will be dry today with a partly sunny sky… temperatures rise into the 86-91 degree this afternoon.
RADAR CHECK: We have a classic case of scattered, random scattered showers and thunderstorms across Alabama this afternoon. Showers are a little more numerous over the eastern half of the state, and they are moving westward on top of an upper low over the Northeast Gulf.
JUNE IN ALABAMA: A very routine June pattern is setting up for the rest of the week across the Deep South. Partly sunny days, highs in the mid to upper 80s, and the risk of a passing afternoon shower or storm in a few spots.
LAZY, HAZY SUMMER DAY: Temperatures are in the 85-90 degree range across Alabama this afternoon with a partly to mostly sunny, hazy sky. No rain on radar, and tonight will be fair with a low in the upper 60s and low 70s.
ANOTHER DRY DAY: Look for a high in the 87-91 degree range across Alabama today with a good supply of sunshine. Then, moisture levels rise tomorrow, and we will introduce the chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms by afternoon.
WARM JUNE AFTERNOON: Temperatures are in the mid 80s across most of Alabama this afternoon with a good supply of hazy sunshine. Tonight will be clear with a low in the 60s.
