SUMMER DAYS: Hot, humid summer weather headlines Alabama’s forecast this week. Partly to mostly sunny days, fair nights, and the usual risk of a pop-up afternoon thunderstorm in a few spots. Most of the storms will come from 2:00 until 9:00 p.m… and the chance of any one spot getting wet remains in the 20/30 percent range through mid-week.
A few widely scattered summertime storms are roaming the Alabama landscape this afternoon with heavy rain, gusty winds, and dangerous lightning.
A hot and steamy Sunday is unfolding across Alabama with a few isolated storms developing this afternoon amid rising heat index values.
Summer heat tightens its grip across Alabama as thigh pressure builds across the region.
Thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall are leading to urban and small stream flooding across the area.
Heat index values are expected to reach up to 107 degrees due to a combination of hot temperatures and high humidity. These conditions can increase the risk of heat-related illnesses.
As of 10:55AM, temperatures were ranging from the lower 80s to the lower 90s across the state. Andalusia was the hot spot at 91 degrees, while Gadsden was the cool spot at 81 degrees.

Alabama is heading into the first major heat wave of the summer, with high heat building through next week and only spotty afternoon storms offering limited relief.
