It has been a wet and stormy this morning, and storms will continue to be a threat through the afternoon and evening hours. Stronger storms will be capable of producing strong, gusty winds and hail, and there is a non-zero tornado threat.
A severe thunderstorm with 60 mph winds and penny-sized hail is moving northeast through Dallas, Perry, and Autauga counties early this morning.
RADAR CHECK: Just before daybreak large areas of rain and thunderstorms are over West and South Alabama. Some are producing small hail and very heavy rain as the move slowly to the east/northeast. The northern counties are dry.
Our broad area of rain and storms continues to slowly sink south and southeast this afternoon. As it encounters unstable air, some of the storms will be severe over South Central and South Alabama.
