Happy Father’s Day. Summer is in full swing across Alabama with daily doses of heat, humidity, and those familiar afternoon thunderstorms on the radar this week. Here’s what I got in today’s video.
Multiple rounds of storms are bringing flash flooding to parts of Lamar, Pickens, and Cullman counties, with 1–3 inches of rain already fallen and more on the way.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Cherokee County. The strongest winds are approaching Gaylesville now.
The forecast for Saturday features a classic summer setup with widespread afternoon storms, high humidity, and temperatures climbing into the upper 80s and low 90s across Alabama.

A severe storm near Powell is moving through DeKalb and surrounding counties with 60 mph wind gusts and hail possible through 6:15 PM.
A severe storm with 60 mph winds and half dollar size hail is moving into southeastern Dallas County through 3:30 PM.
RADAR CHECK: Scattered showers and thunderstorms are in progress across Alabama this afternoon, with the highest coverage over the western half of the state. Stronger storms are producing heavy rain, gusty winds, and lots of lighting. Showers will fade tonight after sunset.
